About

I’m Aileen, a South African-trained online psychologist providing psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults

Since 2010, I have worked with people experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, parenting pressures, and questions around identity and belonging. Many of the people I work with appear capable and high functioning outwardly, while internally struggling with emotional disconnection, self-criticism, loneliness, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of work, relationships, and daily life. I also work with people who have relocated or built lives across different countries and environments, and who may experience a quiet sense of displacement, adaptation, or not fully belonging.

My work is informed by a psychodynamic approach, offering insight-oriented psychotherapy for adults who wish to understand the deeper patterns underlying emotional distress, relationship difficulties and life transitions. Having worked therapeutically with adults for over 16 years I believe therapy is not simply about reducing symptoms, but about developing a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and your emotional world. Through this process, lasting psychological change becomes possible.

What I offer

Together, we can begin to make sense of why you may find yourself reacting, coping, or relating in certain ways, and why some emotional or relationship patterns can feel difficult to move away from. Therapy can help you better understand the patterns and experiences that may keep you feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or responding and relating to others in ways that no longer feel helpful or fulfilling.

Over time, therapy can help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that may be shaping the way you feel, relate, and respond to the challenges in your life. There is no expectation to have the “right” words or clear answers from the beginning. Therapy is a collaborative process that takes place at a pace that feels manageable for you.
